From a small, Minnesota college town. At home everywhere there is a story to be told.
I feel most alive when I am working on a powerful, true story that highlights the strength of the human spirit, and an alternative angle on a current social justice issue. The people in my stories are what inspire and motivate me. I aspire to work with modern media companies and various visual storytellers to create stories that are compelling, moving, and ultimately change public perception.
My work experience is dynamic, including involvement in non-profit organizations, such as Brother’s Keeper International, Catholic Charities, Jubilee USA and Terebinth Refuge. I also worked as an Outreach Coordinator, Reporter and Co-Director for the student documentary team, Extending the Link, where the film I co-directed received a student NATAS award. All of my work is guided by my mission to make the world a better place through storytelling, specifically video storytelling, which I believe is the strongest tool we have to communicate the truth.
I received by Bachelor of Arts in Peace & Conflict Studies with minors in Philosophy and German from the College of Saint Benedict in Minnesota, and my Master of Journalism with a focus in Documentary Film Production from UC Berkeley’s Graduate School of Journalism.
